Inspiring the next generation at Franklin’s Sixth Form Digital Conference.

When our client Franklin Sixth Form College asked us to take part in their Sixth Form Digital Conference, we didn’t need to think twice.

The event was a joint effort with Care Plus Group, with digital healthcare as the main theme. But it was also a chance to show learners how the digital world touches every sector, not just healthcare, and what that means for the world of work they’re heading into.

Digital marketing in 30 minutes

We had three groups to work with, made up of Year 9, Year 10 and sixth form students from Healing Academy, Whitgift Academy and Franklin Sixth Form College. Our job was to bring digital marketing to life for them. In half an hour. No pressure.

Our MD, Rob and Director of Marketing, Alison built a workshop around a fictitious brand that wasn’t seeing the sales it needed from its digital marketing spend. Working in small teams, the students dug into the data, thought about the target audience, and worked out what might be going wrong and why.

As Alison put it, “We wanted to get them working together and coming up with suggestions. It’s the best way to bring home a theory, especially in so short a time. It was great to see the enthusiasm in the room, they all really got stuck in and came up with some brilliant ideas.”

The feedback backed that up. Steve Hoey, Careers Lead at Healing Academy, described the workshop as inspirational. We’ll take that.

Investing in the community and the future workforce

We work with brands across the whole of the UK, but we’re always keen to invest closer to home, whether that’s clients, the local business network, charities, community groups or educators.

As Rob explained, “I love working with young people, whether that’s mentoring the young people involved in the Horizon Youth Zone in developing the brand and interiors, or inspiring youngsters in workshops like this for Franklin College.”
